The 2017 Wagga Wagga Masters Games is proudly supporting beyondblue to help raise awareness and reduce suicides across Australia. One in six Australians are currently living with depression, anxiety or both where tragically eight see no other option but to take their own life. Through beyondblue a number of qualified mental health professionals are available to talk, provide assistance or lend an ear 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
It is through these help lines, and the assistance in others sharing their stories that has many people suffering turning to their help lines and assistance programs in an attempt to find the help they desperately need. beyondblue also has a pilot program operating in the Northern Territory, New South Wales and ACT named 'The Way Back Support Service' in which aims at providing support to persons who have just been released from hospital following a suicide attempt to help assist and support them through the tough three months immediately after an attempt to take their own life.
The 2017 Wagga Wagga Masters Games will undertake a number of fundraising events across the weekend including a raffle with tickets on sale across the weekend to be drawn on Sunday, a portion of the profits from the canteen at the Athletes Village, and all profits from events staged at the Guinness World Record attempt on Sunday afternoon.
